Date set for 'acting mayor election' in Bayrampaşa
CHP Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan Mutlu has been suspended from his duties by the Ministry of Interior following his arrest. The date for the election of an acting mayor at the municipality has now been set.

CHP Mayor Hasan Mutlu, who was detained during an operation conducted at the Beykoz Municipality, was arrested on Tuesday. Following his arrest, Hasan Mutlu was suspended from his duties by the Ministry of Interior. The date for when the municipal council will convene to elect an acting mayor has been determined.
According to the statement made by the Istanbul Governor's Office, the Bayrampaşa District Municipal Council will convene on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at 10:00 AM to elect an acting mayor.
The Governor's Office made the following statement regarding the matter:
"Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the crimes of 'bribery, rigging the tender of public institutions and organizations, and embezzlement,' Bayrampaşa Mayor Hasan MUTLU was arrested by the Istanbul 6th Criminal Court of Peace with the decision dated 16.09.2025 and inquiry number 2025/1310.
The aforementioned individual has been suspended from his duties with the approval of the Ministry of Interior dated 17.09.2025. In accordance with the provisions of Article 45 of the Municipal Law No. 5393, it has been deemed appropriate by our Governor's Office for the Bayrampaşa District Municipal Council to convene on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at 10:00 AM to elect an acting mayor."
