A dawn operation was carried out in the Belgrade Forest to enforce the eviction of the area, which had its management transferred from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) 10 years ago. According to a report by Cengiz Anıl Bölükbaş from T24, the IMM filed a request for a stay of execution regarding the decision, but the court rejected the request.

The court's rejection and eviction order were notified to the IMM one hour before the end of the workday last Friday. At 6:00 AM this morning, 200 riot police officers went to the area for the eviction. While entry to the region was prohibited, signs belonging to the IMM were removed.

A contract was signed on June 14, 2013, between the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's 1st Regional Directorate to operate the Bentler, Neşetsuyu, Kömürcübent, and Fatih Çeşmesi Nature Parks, which are located within the responsibility area of the Regional Directorate and within the borders of Sarıyer. Additionally, a “Belgrade Forest Bahçeköy and Kurtkemeri Entrance Gates Management” contract was signed between the IMM and the Regional Directorate. The area was handed over to the IMM on June 20, 2013.

Following the expiration of the 5+5 year contract period, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced that the contract would not be extended and requested an eviction. The IMM applied to the Istanbul 13th Administrative Court with a request for a “stay of execution” regarding the decision. However, the court issued a rejection decision regarding the IMM's request on December 12.

The Sarıyer District Governorship notified the IMM of the court's rejection and the eviction order for the region one hour before the end of the workday last Friday. The letter sent by the Sarıyer District Governorship to the IMM included the following statements:

“You are requested to vacate and deliver the Bentler, Neşetsuyu, Kömürcübent Nature Parks and the Belgrade Forest Bahçeköy and Kurtkemeri Entrance Gates, which are within the responsibility area of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry 1st Regional Directorate, in a usable condition by 09:00 on Monday, 23/12/2024; otherwise, the eviction process will be carried out in accordance with the procedure specified in Article 75 of Law No. 2886, and all responsibility and expenses will belong to you.”
