Deadlock over absolute majority in Court of Cassation presidency elections!
The presidential elections, which began following the expiration of Court of Cassation President Mehmet Akarca's 4-year term, will continue tomorrow with the 31st round.

Court of Cassation President Mehmet Akarca's 4-year term has expired, and no candidate was able to secure an absolute majority in the 30th round of the presidential elections; the rounds will continue tomorrow.
Akarca, who was elected to the presidency of the Court of Cassation on March 24, 2020, completed his 4-year term as of March 24. In this context, members of the high court went to the polls on Monday, March 25, to determine the new president who will serve for the next 4 years.
Because no candidate was able to receive at least 175 votes—the absolute majority of the 348 Court of Cassation members—in the first 29 rounds of the election, a 30th round of voting was held.
As a result of the voting, 3rd Civil Chamber President Ömer Kerkez received 145 votes, while 3rd Criminal Chamber President Muhsin Şentürk received 102 votes. Participation in the election was recorded as 319, with 15 blank votes cast and 57 votes deemed invalid.
Due to the failure to reach an absolute majority, the 31st round of the elections will continue tomorrow.
