Deadly attack at Frankfurt Central Station

In an armed attack in the German city of Frankfurt, a 27-year-old Turkish citizen was shot in the head and killed by another 54-year-old Turkish citizen. The attacker was taken into custody by police following the incident.

On August 20, a 54-year-old gunman shot and killed a 27-year-old person waiting at the Frankfurt Central Station in the German city of Frankfurt. The attacker was taken into custody by police.

In a statement from the Frankfurt Police, it was noted that the attack took place around 21:00 local time, and the 27-year-old victim lost his life after being shot in the head. The police announced that both the attacker and the deceased were Turkish citizens.

FIRED SEVERAL SHOTS FROM BEHIND

The police statement said, “According to the current status of the investigation, the attacker approached the 27-year-old man standing on platform 9 at Frankfurt Central Station around 21:00 and fired several shots with a handgun from behind. The 54-year-old attacker then discarded the murder weapon and fled. A short time later, federal police officers stopped and detained him on platform 7. Help came too late for the 27-year-old man, who died at the scene. Both men are Turkish citizens. As part of an extensive forensic investigation that lasted until the early hours of the morning, investigators found and secured the suspected murder weapon.”

INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED

Stating that the investigation into the background of the murder is ongoing, the police said, “The 54-year-old suspect will be brought before the investigating judge at the Frankfurt am Main District Court by the public prosecutor's office, and the prosecutor's office will decide whether the suspect will be remanded in custody. Investigations, particularly regarding the background of the crime, are ongoing.”
