Deadly crash in Esenyurt! SUV runs red light and hits road cleaning vehicle: 2 dead, 2 injured

The accident occurred around 03:00 on the European Highway Hadımköy Connection Road in Esenyurt's Atatürk neighborhood. According to information obtained, the SUV with license plate 34 GEM 38, which was traveling in the direction of the Hadımköy Toll Booths, allegedly failed to stop at a red light and struck the side of a mechanical sweeper belonging to İSTAÇ with license plate 34 08 11034, which was crossing to the opposite lane.

Due to the impact, the cabin of the mechanical sweeper fell off, and two people in the SUV became trapped. Upon notification, police, fire, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.

Police teams arrived at the scene and took security measures by cordoning off the area. Fire crews worked to reach the two people trapped in the SUV due to the impact, while medical teams attended to the injured. After initial intervention, the injured were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

2 PEOPLE IN THE SUV DIED TRAGICALLY

While one person from the SUV and the İSTAÇ driver were taken to the hospital with injuries, two other people in the SUV lost their lives in the horrific accident.

It was learned that police investigations revealed that 3 of the people in the SUV were not carrying identification. While it was learned that the condition of the İSTAÇ driver taken to the hospital is good, the condition of the unidentified person who emerged from the SUV injured is reported to be critical.

The vehicles involved in the accident were removed with the help of a tow truck, and municipal teams carried out cleaning work on the road. The bodies of the two people who lost their lives in the accident were taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute Morgue by ambulance. Following the accident, both the SUV and the mechanical cleaning vehicle were rendered unusable.

Police teams have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
