Death toll in Denizli bus accident rises to 9

Following the death of another citizen who was under treatment after the bus accident that occurred on May 31 in the Sarayköy district of Denizli, the number of lives lost in the tragic incident has reached 9.

On May 31, a passenger bus traveling from İzmir to Alanya lost control and overturned after hitting barriers near Tırkaz Neighborhood in the Sarayköy district of Denizli. A fire broke out on the bus immediately after the accident, and health, police, fire, and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene shortly thereafter.

According to initial reports, 8 people, including one baby, lost their lives in the accident, and 33 passengers were injured and taken to nearby hospitals. Some of the injured continued their treatment at various hospitals.

Sad news also arrived regarding Mehmet Arıkan, the former headman of Alanya's Türktaş Neighborhood, who had been fighting for his life in intensive care at the Antalya Training and Research Hospital for approximately 25 days and had lost his wife, Hayriye Arıkan, in the accident. Arıkan, who was being treated in the hospital with severe injuries, passed away despite all interventions. Relatives of the grieving family announced that the funeral would be laid to rest today at 11:00 at the Alanya Hacı Baba Cemetery.

With this development, the number of people who died in the tragedy has risen to 9. While authorities stated that the investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing, the families affected by the accident are experiencing deep sorrow and have bid farewell to their loved ones in tears.
