The first session of the IMM Assembly for February was held at the municipal building in Saraçhane, chaired by the 1st Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Nuri Aslan.
CHP member Nuri Aslan said, "Do not use sentences that will cause the public to be incited or provoked. Stop playing politics over Ekrem İmamoğlu."
During the off-agenda section of the assembly, AKP Assembly Member Mehmet Rıdvan Arslan took the podium and criticized the statements made by IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu.
Arslan stated, "The government or the opposition may occasionally dislike and criticize judicial decisions. But no one, no citizen in the history of Turkish politics, no political figure, has ever threatened members of the judiciary through their families and children as Mr. İmamoğlu has done. This is a first in Turkey."
Arslan's remarks were met with reactions from the CHP benches.
CHP's Nuri Aslan, who was chairing the assembly session, stated that there was distortion in AKP Assembly Member Arslan's words and invited him to use the expressions of IMM President İmamoğlu exactly as they were.
"YOU ARE NOT TELLING THE TRUTH"
Upon this, Arslan said, "He made accusations regarding members of the judiciary, our Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, their families, and their children, based on his own words."
Interrupting Arslan, 1st Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Nuri Aslan said, "No, you are not telling the truth. Would you please stop speaking? Could you cut the microphone?"
"I WILL NOT ALLOW LIES TO BE SPOKEN"
1st Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Aslan continued his words as follows:
"I do not want to interrupt you, but what befits you is to state it in the way Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu said it.
Do not use sentences that will cause the public to be incited or provoked. Stop playing politics over Ekrem İmamoğlu. While managing this assembly, I am managing it on behalf of IMM President İmamoğlu.
I will never, ever allow any metropolitan mayor, any political party leader, or our President to be insulted or for lies to be spoken from this podium."
