According to a report by the SigmaLive website, following Israel's attacks on Iran, many flights bound for Israel were diverted to the GCA's Paphos and Larnaca airports.
The report stated that 20 passenger planes that decided against landing in Israel at the last minute landed in the GCA, and the passengers were hosted in various hotels and facilities across the country.
Meanwhile, GCA Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis announced in a post on his X account that GCA leader Nikos Christodoulides has called the Greek Cypriot National Security Council to an emergency meeting due to developments in the region.
Letymbiotis stated that the Special National Plan named "ESTIA" has been activated for the reception and repatriation of third-country nationals currently in Israel via Southern Cyprus.
