Decision in 'irregularity' investigation into former CHP mayor: 1 of 10 suspects arrested
In the Devrek district of Zonguldak, 1 of 10 suspects referred to the courthouse as part of an investigation into allegations of irregularity has been arrested. A decision was made to impose house arrest and judicial control measures on former CHP mayor Çetin Bozkurt.

During an operation conducted last Friday in the Devrek district by the Zonguldak Provincial Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM) teams, former CHP Devrek Mayor Çetin Bozkurt, who faced various allegations of irregularity, was detained along with the period's Private Secretary Raif K., the period's Accounting and Financial Affairs Manager Nafie Ç., the period's Deputy Mayor Recep K., the period's purchasing personnel Engin K., the period's Acting Financial Affairs Manager İsmail K., as well as Umut K., who worked in the collection unit at the time, and the period's Human Resources Manager Tuncay U. The suspects were taken to the Zonguldak Police Department to have their statements recorded.
While the suspects' statement procedures at the police station were ongoing, Taha K. and Necmettin D. were also detained.
Among the suspects who were referred to the courthouse under heavy security measures, Raif K. and Umut K. were released by the prosecutor's office.
Of the suspects referred to the duty court, the period's Human Resources Manager Tuncay U. was arrested and sent to prison. The court ruled to impose the measure of not leaving the residence, known in the public as "house arrest," on former Mayor Çetin Bozkurt, while the other suspects were released under judicial control.
CHP Deputy Chairman Deniz Yavuzyılmaz and party members also arrived in front of the courthouse building to closely follow the process.
