A new phase has been reached in the investigation conducted by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding irregularities in public tenders and direct procurement processes at the Ege University Revolving Fund Management Directorate and purchasing units. As a result of asset assessments conducted by the prosecutor's office, assets determined to belong to 26 individuals and 16 companies were frozen by court order on the grounds that they were proceeds of crime. In this context, a total of 150 vehicles and 49 properties belonging to the suspect individuals and companies were seized.

Within the scope of the operation that recently came to public attention, detention warrants were issued for 47 people accused of providing benefits to specific firms and causing harm to the public. In simultaneous raids conducted on June 9 in six provinces centered in İzmir, a total of 47 suspects were apprehended, including Ş.Ç., who is alleged to be the leader of the organization, former Ege University Faculty of Medicine Dean D.B., and the hospital's former chief director Ö.Ö.

Of the suspects referred to the courthouse on June 12, 27 were arrested, including individuals such as Ş.Ç., D.B., and Ö.Ö.

Examinations revealed that a public loss of approximately 3 billion 100 million liras occurred as a result of the evaluation of transactions carried out in procurement processes in Court of Accounts reports. According to allegations reflected in the investigation file, it was claimed that although Ş.Ç. did not have an official position within the university, he acted like an administrator and was allocated an official office belonging to the institution.

While the scale of the financial loss has once again come to the fore with the seized assets as the investigation continues, the judicial process is expected to deepen in the coming days with new evidence and developments.
