Halk TV columnist İsmail Saymaz wrote that Ülkü Ocakları Chairman Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım's legal defense was handled by Serdar Öktem, who is now being held in custody on suspicion of participating in the escape of the hitman in the Sinan Ateş murder trial.

Öktem is both the lawyer for these two defendants… He is accused of helping the hitman escape after the murder. And he also undertook Yıldırım's defense in two assaults and one complaint.
