Defense statements of lieutenants completed, when will the decision be announced?

The oral defense statements of the 5 lieutenants sent to the Land Forces Command High Disciplinary Board (YDK) with a recommendation for dismissal from the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) have been taken. The decision regarding the lieutenants, whose defense process has been completed, will be announced after it is prepared with its justification and approved.

The investigation was launched on the grounds that 5 lieutenants committed a disciplinary offense by chanting the slogan 'We are the soldiers of Mustafa Kemal' during the graduation ceremony on August 30, 2024.

In addition to the lieutenants, the defense statements of three commanders who were the regiment, battalion, and company commanders during the ceremony were also included in the process to be heard by the High Disciplinary Board.

WHEN WILL THE DISCIPLINARY BOARD ANNOUNCE ITS DECISION?

Following the defense process, the decisions to be made by the high disciplinary boards will be prepared with justifications within 10 business days and shared with the public.

It was also stated that the path of administrative judiciary can be pursued against these decisions.

While the events that took place during the ceremony are at the center of the investigation, it was stated that the decisions regarding the lieutenants and commanders will be made as a result of the examinations by the disciplinary boards.

Speaking to her relatives before giving her defense, Lieutenant Ebru Eroğlu had said, 'Whatever the result, they will not be able to take the Military Academy badge from our chests or yours.'
