DEM Party's Ayşegül Doğan recalls AKP's Ömer Çelik's words: It will invite positive developments

Speaking on a program she attended on Halk TV, DEM Party Spokesperson Ayşegül Doğan evaluated the announcement regarding the terrorist organization PKK's dissolution congress.

Recalling the words of AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, who recently said, "Every new and positive development will invite the next positive development," Doğan said, "For instance, as the DEM Party, we are calling out to them once again on behalf of those who ask us and on behalf of society. We are waiting for this very sentence to be filled with substance." 

"A GREAT RESPONSIBILITY FALLS ON POLITICS"

Stating that AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that "a great responsibility falls on politics," Doğan said, "For example, we are using the same sentences on this matter. Look, we also say that a great responsibility falls on politics and that politics must bear this responsibility. However, those who govern the country today must take more responsible and courageous steps in this regard. This is a social need; this is not a determination made by the DEM Party to stall or to set as a condition. We are putting forward this determination as a social need. How can this be resolved? It can be possible with a political decision and political will. Those who will do this are those who govern today, those in power, the ruling bloc," she said.

"ON SOME ISSUES..."

DEM Party's Doğan noted that the efforts put forward by AKP President Erdoğan, MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan, and CHP Chairman Özgür Özel are very valuable and meaningful, and stated the following:

"This needs to be sustained; we are talking about a subject that excites everyone, including the chairmen of other opposition parties. Because we are now talking about the possibility of ending a conflict process. We have entered a historical time where we can show that peace is possible, not just a probability. Peace is possible, it is no longer just a probability. A democratic Turkey is possible. This is not a probability. Those who think differently and those who have different thoughts on this matter should have been talking about and discussing these issues anyway. We are a party of negotiation and struggle. Not because we agree with the government, but on some issues, we all, as the entire Turkish society, need to be in agreement."
