DEM Party gives support: First response from Kurtulmuş to Bahçeli's 'Commission' call
MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, the architect of the new opening process, stated that a commission should be established in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) following the decision of the terrorist organization PKK to lay down arms and disband. Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş gave the green light to Bahçeli's call.

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, in a written statement made on May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, proposed the establishment of a National Unity and Solidarity Commission in the TBMM as part of the new opening process, and stated that the Speaker of the Parliament should chair the commission in question.

Support for Bahçeli's proposal came from DEM Party Imralı Delegation member Pervin Buldan. Speaking to Hilal Köylü from Serbestiyet, Buldan said, “The commission would be the first step toward resolving the issue in parliament. It would be good if it were established before this legislative year ends.”
Buldan further stated, “Mr. Bahçeli said what needed to be said. The commission would be the first step toward resolving this issue in parliament. Because this issue must take concrete form in parliament. Only then will the commission be functional. It should be established before this legislative year ends.”
GREEN LIGHT FROM KURTULMUŞ
Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, meanwhile, conducted field inspections on Mount Gabar in Şırnak with accompanying deputies on May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day.
When asked about Bahçeli's statements, Kurtulmuş said the following:
"The process is continuing as planned. The next part is for the terrorist organizations to surrender their weapons. Once the surrender takes place, the place where the issue will be discussed, both in terms of politics and the preparation of the legal framework, is the TBMM. We will shoulder the process together with all political parties in the TBMM."
