The meetings held by the DEM Party Imrali delegation, which began with Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş and continued with the MHP, AKP, CHP, DEVA, Saadet, and the New Welfare Party (Yeniden Refah Partisi), have concluded.
Now, all eyes have turned to the results of these contacts and the expected statements from PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan.
The DEM Party delegation included the following names:
• DEM Party Van MP Pervin Buldan
• Istanbul MP Sırrı Süreyya Önder
• Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Türk, who was replaced by a government-appointed trustee (it was learned that he joined the delegation at Öcalan’s request).
The delegation held a meeting with Abdullah Öcalan in Imrali on December 28. Following this contact, visits were made to various political parties.

• January 2, 2025: The meeting with Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş lasted 50 minutes. Sırrı Süreyya Önder stated, “We held a hopeful meeting with our Parliament Speaker.”
• January 2, 2025: The 40-minute meeting with MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli drew attention due to the prayer beads gifted to Bahçeli. The delegation stated, “The meeting was positive.”
• January 6, 2025: The meeting with the AKP delegation was the longest, lasting 1 hour and 25 minutes. Abdullah Güler from the AKP said, “We had a sincere and positive conversation.”
• January 6, 2025: In a one-hour meeting with Gelecek Party leader Ahmet Davutoğlu, Davutoğlu remarked, “We discussed the need to learn lessons from past mistakes.”
• January 6, 2025: Saadet Party Chairman Mahmut Arıkan expressed his concerns and suggestions, saying, “We will try to support the cause of peace.”
• January 7, 2025: DEVA Party leader Ali Babacan called on President Erdoğan to clarify his stance.
• January 7, 2025: CHP Chairman Özgür Özel stated, “As the Republican People’s Party, we support every step taken toward resolving Turkey’s 50-year-old problems.”
• January 7, 2025: New Welfare Party leader Fatih Erbakan stated, “We have expressed our concerns.”
The DEM Party delegation will meet with Selahattin Demirtaş on January 11 and with Figen Yüksekdağ on January 12. A comprehensive statement is expected following these contacts.
