Regarding the process that began following MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's call to PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, which is referred to by the public as the "2nd solution process," Çandar stated: "With the appeal filed one day before the deadline for the ECHR ruling on Selahattin Demirtaş: 1. Bad faith has been demonstrated; 2. The feelings of Kurdish citizens and the Turkish public have been disregarded; and 3. Most importantly, the 'Process,' which had raised great hopes for internal peace, has been seriously wounded."
Turkey has requested that the decision rendered by the Second Section of the ECHR regarding former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş be reconsidered by the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights.
The deadline for the application regarding the decision on Demirtaş was October 8. Demirtaş had been sentenced to 42 years in prison for 6 separate crimes in the Kobane case.
