DEM Party's Sakık insults the founding leaders of the Republic in the Turkish Parliament: Lawyer Özbek says he has never changed his stance

DEM Party Ağrı MP Sırrı Sakık took the floor in the Turkish Parliament regarding the 'Öcalan' debate between IYI Party Group Deputy Chairman Çömez and DEM Party's Buldan.

Taking the floor at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, DEM Party's Sırrı Sakık used unacceptable language regarding the founding leaders of the Republic. 

Here are those words from Sakık:

“In recent days, the words “traitor” and “base” have been flying around in Parliament regarding the recent process. Do you know what the real baseness is? Those who turned their backs and ignored the Kurds after building the country together are the base ones, those who ban a people's language are the base ones, those who usurp a people's rights are the base ones. Do you know who is base? Those who slaughter tens of thousands of Kurds in unsolved murders and do not speak out against them are the base ones, those who burn 3,500 Kurdish villages are the base ones, those who want deaths to continue are the base ones, those who want the war to continue are the base ones, those who do not want the Kurds to have even a pebble are the base ones; whoever calls us “Base,” they are the biggest base of all.”

REACTION TO SIRRI SAKIK FROM LAWYER HÜSEYİN ÖZBEK

Lawyer and 12punto columnist Hüseyin Özbek, regarding these statements made by DEM Party's Sırrı Sakık in parliament; 

"The real baseness is the spewing of hatred against Atatürk and the Turkish Nation by the representatives of an ethnic separatist tradition, who have no sweat of their brow in the liberation and establishment of the country, and who have managed to worm their way into the Veteran Parliament.

What is painful is the deep silence and tacit approval of some political parties during this process!" he stated, expressing his reaction.

Özbek stated that this statement by Sırrı Sakık actually stems from the fact that his stance has never changed, going back years to recall the first statement made by Sırrı Sakık, who was elected Mayor of Ağrı in the repeated elections on June 1, 2014.

In his column published in 2014, Hüseyin Özbek https://millidusunce.com/karin-ari-sinin-sirri/ criticized these statements by Sakık and mentioned the Kurdish rebellions that erupted one after another in the first quarter of the Republic.

HERE ARE THOSE EXPRESSIONS SIRRI SAKIK USED YEARS AGO:

Sırrı Sakık, who won the Ağrı mayoral election in the repeat vote on June 1, 2014, announced in his first statement after receiving his mandate that the Air Martyrs monument on Cumhuriyet Street, which he described as a monument of shame, would be removed. Claiming that the plane that crashed in the 1930s, in which two pilots were martyred, had taken off to bomb the Kurds, Sakık said; “The Mustafa Muğlalı Barracks was also removed due to reactions in parliament and the reaction of our people. Mustafa Muğlalı's name is still on a street in Muğla. We will not allow these. If Kurdish children see those monuments and throw themselves into the mountains, which are the address of rebellion, saying 'if there is no remedy, the road is the remedy,' we must remove them as soon as possible if we are to build peace.

Everyone should take steps to grow peace. There are similar streets in this city. Like Kazım Karabekir, there are dozens of them. These are streets and avenues that do not coincide with the spirit of this geography, and such monuments of shame must be removed.”
