DEM Party speaks out on Fenerbahçe: 'Unjust'

DEM Party Istanbul MP Celal Fırat stated that Fenerbahçe University has terminated the employment of Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Boz, the Head of the Economics and Finance Department, and declared it an "injustice."

Fenerbahçe University has terminated the employment of Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Boz, Head of the Economics and Finance Department, along with 6 other faculty members.

Prof. Dr. Boz stated that no official reason was provided to them.

Arguing that a 9-to-5 work schedule cannot be applied to academics, Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Boz announced in a statement on her social media account that she would fight this mentality to the end. Boz said, "Being a Fenerbahçe supporter is a culture that encompasses grace, courtesy, and respect."

DEM Party Istanbul MP and Chairman of the Garip Dede Dergah Foundation Board of Trustees, Celal Fırat, also issued a statement on his social media account, expressing his support for Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Boz.

"Fenerbahçe University has unjustly terminated the position of Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Boz," said the DEM Party MP Celal Fırat, who shared the following statement:

"The university, which promises to provide its students with the competence for scientific research methods, accessing information, compiling information, interpreting, and evaluation, is making biased selections for its academic staff, applying mobbing to academics, and usurping their personal rights.

The university has also terminated the position of Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Boz as Head of the Economics and Finance Department, whom it has been subjecting to mobbing for a long time, without providing any justification.

This mobbing, which it applies to avoid paying severance pay to educators, continues.

As the Garip Dede Dergah Foundation, we always stand by our dear professor, Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Boz, whose position was terminated without any justification.
