All of Turkey has been focused on the horrific femicide that took place in Fatih. In the blood-chilling incident that occurred on October 4, 19-year-old İkbal and Ayşenur were brutally murdered by Semih Çelik.

Breaking her silence after this blood-chilling event, Demet Akalın reacted to the horrific murders in a post on her X account and called for the death penalty to be reinstated. In her post, Akalın stated, "The death penalty must come, my friend! They won't let you into the EU or anything else. Period!"

Gülben Ergen responded to Akalın's call for the death penalty. Ergen replied to Akalın with the following words:

"The death penalty should never come. We are not an underdeveloped country. CASTRATION should come. Castration. Castration is killing while alive! Blunting one's desires! Death is an escape. Castration is killing the 'between the legs' while alive."

Akalın responded to Ergen with the words, "Dear Gülben, a pervert is a pervert! A murderer is a murderer!"

The debate on social media concluded with Ergen's words: "The death penalty is not a punishment for these mentalities, it is a reward."
