Demonstrations and marches banned for 1 week in Mardin

The Mardin Governor's Office has announced that meetings, demonstrations, marches, rallies, setting up tents, opening stands, and hanging posters and banners are prohibited between February 7 and February 13, 2024.

The following statements were included in the decision announced by the Governor's Office:

"Within the borders of Mardin, starting from 00:01 on Wednesday, February 7, until 24:00 on Tuesday, February 13, for a period of 7 days, excluding those deemed appropriate by the Governor's Office and District Governorships, demonstration marches, open-air meetings, and indoor meetings to be organized in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Meetings and Demonstration Marches No. 2911 have been prohibited pursuant to the relevant provisions of Law No. 2911. Activities such as press statements, sit-ins, conducting surveys, setting up or opening tents and stands, organizing signature campaigns, distributing leaflets, brochures, and flyers, and all kinds of protest actions are also prohibited between the specified dates in accordance with the provisions of paragraphs a and c of Article 11 of the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442. Furthermore, between the aforementioned dates, in order to prevent participation in any kind of unlawful actions and activities related to the subjects mentioned in organizational calls, whether individually or collectively, from our districts or surrounding provinces, or by using our province's routes, the entry of individuals, persons, groups, or groups likely to participate in unlawful actions and activities into our province and districts, and their departure from these places individually or collectively, will not be permitted in accordance with the provisions of paragraph c of Article 11 of the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442."
