The former model and actress Akkaya has been sentenced to 4 months and 27 days in prison for allegedly committing violence against her 15-year-old daughter.
Deniz Akkaya was on trial for the charge of 'simple assault with a weapon against a descendant' regarding allegations that she committed violence against her 15-year-old daughter, A.Ö., with a requested sentence ranging from 9 months to 1 year and 6 months. The verdict was delivered at the hearing held by the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance.
THERMOS THROWN AT HER DAUGHTER COUNTED AS A WEAPON
The court stated that on the day of the incident, a dispute broke out between Akkaya and her daughter A.Ö. in a manner where it was unclear who initiated it, and that during the argument, Akkaya threw a bag containing a metal thermos—which is considered a weapon as it is suitable for use in an attack—and wireless headphones at the victim, and also kicked, slapped, and choked the victim.
Based on these grounds, and taking into account that her daughter A.Ö. did not file a complaint against her, the court sentenced Akkaya to 4 months and 27 days in prison for the crime of 'simple assault with a weapon against a descendant'.
