İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu spoke at his party's group meeting. Dervişoğlu stated that they are against the new constitution. Furthermore, Dervişoğlu made remarks regarding the newly announced austerity package.
Highlights from Dervişoğlu's speech are as follows:
"Not a day goes by without the political power coming up with a new invention, and not a day goes by without another day being stolen from the lives of our nation, which is left alone with the bitter and cold realities of the one-man regime. The government, which has spent the last two weeks managing with headlines about a so-called new constitution, softening, and normalization, must not have been satisfied with that, as it now appears before us with a regulatory soup under the name of a judicial reform package, a new attempt at a Gestapo law.
Before delving into the justification for this law, which was prepared by the Palace's staff despite the nation and by the Palace's bureaucrats despite the state, I consider it my duty to remind you of one point... The political institution that Mr. Erdoğan tries to organize by polarizing and dividing is not a piece of playdough that the current government can shape or soften whenever it wishes, and everyone should know well that we will never surrender the political institution in Turkey to a vicious cycle where the government is satisfied with being in power, the opposition is satisfied with remaining in opposition, and elections are not a race between options but are conducted almost like a census.
"WE WILL DISTURB THOSE WHO DISTURB"
It is clear that we have disturbed the powerful by expressing our views on the constitutional discussions and questioning the sincerity of this initiative. I have no complaints; we will continue to disturb those who disturb our nation! The stance of the İYİ Party regarding the new constitution imposed on Turkey's agenda is extremely clear and explicit; we will stand against any constitutional amendment that will serve as a lifeline to this expired government and consolidate the one-man regime.
Are you the ones who will bring normalization to this country? I am sorry, but put your hat in front of you and think; look at what you have done to the justice system! Your Court of Cassation does not even recognize the Constitutional Court.
AGAINST THE NEW CONSTITUTION!
We will not support the New Constitution because Erdoğan wants it, so the one-man regime can be extended. As a political party that sides with a fair state and the fundamental principles established by Atatürk, we will not be in the same place as any political party that supports a one-man rule.
We will fight to the end against a new Erdoğan constitution.
DISINFORMATION
They say 'preventing disinformation'... Do not bother lying; disinformation is not a field that the AKP wants to prevent, but one it wants to monopolize. The reason for this government's existence and the sole way and method of maintaining its existence is disinformation.
They are going to introduce prison sentences for those who investigate foreigners in Turkey. They are threatening those who oppose this demographic occupation with imprisonment.
If the issue is the foreigners in Turkey, I am the first to cast a stone. If Turkey is in first place in smuggling and refugees, this is not something that happened by mistake; it is a policy of this government. Mr. Erdoğan, if you are looking for agents, look at those you have let into the country. Look at the smugglers caught by the Minister of Interior every week.
We are neither in the Cold War, nor in the Soviet Union, nor are you Stalin. I am warning you once again to do your job properly.
AUSTERITY PACKAGE
The government has announced a Medium-Term Austerity Package. Whenever the AKP wants a Constitution, an austerity package immediately follows. If you do not believe me, look at the archives. They say austerity measures will be implemented. They will reduce employment in the public sector, they will use paper on both sides, and civil servant shuttles might be canceled. I congratulate the government and its supporters, who start austerity with civil servant shuttles, for their grand vision.
I ask Mehmet Şimşek: What is the level of unnecessary spending in the public sector? What is the total cost of the vehicles used by the President? Is the Presidency's spending included in the austerity package you mentioned? Or is the President exempted from the austerity circular?
Telling young people who will take the KPSS exam in 2 months that I will not be able to hire you was only fitting for this government. It plans to save 100 billion liras. I am also curious about what the economic management, which runs a deficit equal to half of the budget it prepared, aims to achieve with this austerity.
If the real goal is to pave the way for new taxes, if the goal is to reach for the last piece of bread from a nation already living in hunger, misery, and deprivation, we will break this game.
We do not expect those who created the wreckage to clear it. If you are serious about austerity, I challenge you. If you are serious about austerity, limit the budget of the Presidential Palace. If you want austerity, give up the folly called KKM (Currency-Protected Deposit), which has no meaning other than wealth transfer.
In short, take your hands out of this nation's pockets, gentlemen.
MAY 14 WORLD FARMERS' DAY
Yesterday was Farmers' Day. Our people who cannot produce and cannot get a return for their labor are abandoning agricultural production. The fact that our farmers cannot get what their products deserve has broken their backs and made their lives unlivable. As the İYİ Party, I promise that we will overcome all the troubles of our farmers. I celebrate the World Farmers' Day of our farmers.
Today is May 15. We are on the anniversary of the day İzmir was occupied. It is the beginning of the will that led Gazi Mustafa Kemal to Samsun. Today is a day when a new history lesson is given. I bow with respect before all our heroes of independence."
