Dervişoğlu's 'Öcalan' and 'new opening process' outburst

Evaluating the new opening process, which the government calls a 'Terror-Free Turkey,' as a 'national security threat,' IYI Party leader Müsavat Dervişoğlu said, "Those currently in power say, 'I will do whatever I want.' When you do this, the name of Turkey's regime is no longer democracy. This is called the dictatorship of the majority."

In the new opening process, of which MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli is the architect and which the government has named 'Terror-Free Turkey,' the DEM Party Imralı Delegation will meet with Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç on Friday.

Pervin Buldan, who is part of the DEM Party Imralı Delegation that meets with PKK terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan during the new opening process, stated that legislative work must be carried out for the physical freedom of the terrorist leader Öcalan.

IYI Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu made striking statements regarding the agenda during a live broadcast he attended.

Responding to questions from İlker Karagöz on NOW TV, Dervişoğlu said regarding the discussions on 'physical freedom' for the terrorist leader Öcalan, "I have made the necessary warnings in the past as well."

Dervişoğlu continued as follows:

"When it was said for the head of the terrorists, known as Abdullah Öcalan, that 'he should come to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and address the parliament from the DEM podium,' I stated that Abdullah Öcalan does not reside in the Aşağı Ayrancı neighborhood of the Çankaya district, and therefore, for him to come to the Assembly, he must first be released, and that starting the issue from this point would mean taking a step toward his pardon. The process has reached that point today. I wish I had not been proven right."

Referring to the statements made by DEM Party's Pervin Buldan at an event held in Italy regarding the terrorist leader Öcalan, Dervişoğlu said, "At an event held in Italy, one of the messengers from Imralı expressing that steps would be taken toward Öcalan's release by showing the path, method, and timing is not credible from my perspective. Because it is not a matter that can be ensured by DEM's parliamentary group to be able to release Abdullah Öcalan with a decision to be taken in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Regarding this issue, rather than Öcalan's messengers or members of the organization affiliated with him, the President and his partners should speak," he said.

"LET US SEE WHETHER THE NATION OR THE GOVERNMENT IS GREATER"

Dervişoğlu continued as follows:

"The children of this country do not consent to the murderer of 50 thousand of our people being taken from his prison in Imralı and released into the nation. Therefore, the nation is on one side, and the government and its partners are on another. In a place where the nation is on one side and the government is on the other, the nation itself will decide whether the decisions to be taken will be valid or not. For that reason, by saying 'I challenge you,' I stated that if a determination is shown to contribute to taking this treacherous step, the nation will stand against it.

The nation's decision is above everything. From our perspective, the interlocutors of the debate are not Öcalan's messengers, but directly the President, the government, and the partners who carry water to that government's mill. That is why I say it once again. I challenge you! Let us see whether the nation or the government is greater."

"THOSE WHO SHOULD PROVIDE ENLIGHTENING INFORMATION ARE THOSE WHO GOVERN THIS STATE"

Pointing out that the developments regarding the new opening process, which began with the call of MHP leader Bahçeli, have not been announced to the public by AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the government, Dervişoğlu assessed, "The messages coming from DEM and Imralı are not things that the Turkish nation and the Republic of Turkey state should take seriously. If you notice, this new voice also came from Italy. So, where is Italy? Italy is one of the first residences of the terrorist known as Abdullah Öcalan after he left Syria. Therefore, Italy is an area where these things are planned, constructed, discussed, and where the discussed thoughts are turned into action. If the Turkish nation is directly the addressee of such a thing, those who govern this state are the ones who should provide the enlightening information. I did not accept the Imralı messengers for this reason anyway. I said that we have nothing to learn from them for that reason, and I defined the process as an uprising."

"WE ARE EXPERIENCING A NATIONAL SECURITY THREAT"

Regarding the term 'uprising,' Dervişoğlu said, "Turkey is in a position of a country whose national existence is being played with directly. Those who make these plans also express how they are trying to shape the Middle East geography in similar meetings. Nothing we say is a surprise. We are where we have been in everything we have said so far. Now we also say, I wish we had not been proven right. I said it back then. 'Turkey is wanted to be de-republicanized, Turkey is wanted to be de-Turkified. There are violations of Turkey's unitary structure that should be taken extremely seriously. Along with the unitary state structure, there will be some discussions on the definition of citizenship. This will harm our national unity and the integrity of our homeland.' I have expressed this many times. This is a serious national security threat," he said.

"TERROR AND TERRORISM DO NOT ABANDON THEIR AMBITIONS AND GOALS"

Dervişoğlu used the following words:

"Instead of acting with the truths shaped in the conscience of the nation, these friends prefer to make some decisions by sitting at the table of Western imperialists or Trump. Turkey is being dragged toward a dark place. The fight against terror cannot be solved by negotiating with the terrorist. Terror and terrorism are different things. Terror can be carried out individually, but terrorism is aimed at a purpose.

The cost of a terror uprising that has been a scourge on Turkey for half a century and has a history must be calculated correctly. One must look at what is being asked. In the geography we live in, the division of Turkey is desired. The disintegration of the national unity and solidarity of the Turkish nation is targeted. And the terrorists and their henchmen are boasting about the successes they have achieved through terror so far.

We are facing a terrorist organization that says, 'We ensured that Abdullah Öcalan is called "Mr." through armed struggle.' Terror and terrorism do not abandon their ambitions and goals. We are facing a structure that believes they have achieved their rights in the geography we live in through armed struggle. Following these, the definition of citizenship will come. Multilingualism will come. Federal structures will come. These demands will not end. The fact that these demands are being discussed by legitimizing them through this government is essentially a dangerous situation. If you prepare a ground where your interlocutors can come before you with these demands, you pave the way for what is happening to turn into a direct threat, rather than an indirect one, and to become a subject of bargaining."

"IN ORDER FOR ERDOĞAN TO BE PRESIDENT FOR LIFE..."

Arguing that the AKP and MHP also see the dangers that the process will bring, Dervişoğlu said:

"So many things cannot be done by ignoring them. Then one must look for a bad intention behind this. We must find the answer to 'For what purpose are they doing this?' It is impossible for the circles that have governed this country for 23 years and have mastered all kinds of intelligence of the state not to know what the citizen knows. Why are they doing this? It must be determined whose puppet and pawn they are. This government has been reduced to the status of a footman for the projects placed before it by Western imperialism in order to maintain its own existence. This is already a project.

With what is happening in Syria, what is happening in Iraq, and the opening processes we experienced in periods before this, these are no longer issues that can be debated. Turkey is not experiencing this for the first time either. But whoever was given what commitment, whoever was given what guarantee, whose project was adopted—this is the real question that needs an answer. This government is being directed to accept every project placed before it in order to maintain its own existence, and for the President to be elected once more and be President for life."

"INSTEAD OF SURRENDERING TO OTHERS..."

Regarding the messages of DEM Party's Buldan in Italy, Dervişoğlu said, "I should not be getting this information from Buldan. What does physical freedom, being released, mean? It is a general rule, they are boiling the frog. Wasn't there going to be no bargaining? I ask; is the state sleeping? Look, the nation is not sleeping. The nation does not accept these maneuvers. It is not something we can accept for the state to appear to be sleeping and playing dead in a place where the nation is awake. Let them say it openly. If they have commitments made to someone, let them express it. Instead of surrendering to others, let them surrender themselves to the conscience of this great nation. We are handing over our future to the terrorist head known as Öcalan. It is impossible for us to allow this. It is also impossible for this decision to be passed by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey without the support of the government. The government and those who govern this country are obliged to explain to the public what bargains they have made with the terrorist head in Imralı and his intermediaries," he said.

"THIS PROCESS IS AN UPRISING"

Pointing to the similarity of the photo the DEM Party delegation took with President Erdoğan and the terrorist leader Öcalan, Dervişoğlu assessed, "This process is an uprising directed at the Republic of Turkey state. Much greater disasters will be awaiting Turkey in the continuation of this. Turkey cannot make concessions on this matter. Turkey cannot sit at the negotiating table with terror, terrorism, and the terrorist. If those who govern this country cannot comprehend the difference between terror and terrorism, instead of sending couriers here and there, let them send someone to us to get information, and we will explain it. Terrorism is aimed at a purpose. It cannot be seen or evaluated as isolated terrorist incidents. This has a goal. This goal is the goal of harming the unitary structure of the Republic of Turkey state. This is an uprising against the integrity of the Turkish homeland. Taking steps aimed at ensuring the division of this homeland is wanted to be brought to life with a project prepared by them."

"THEY REDUCED TURKEY, WHICH SHOULD BE A KING, TO A PAWN"

Emphasizing that Turkey is being tried to be isolated in the region, Dervişoğlu said, "Those who govern Turkey have an obligation to act vigilantly. They are facing such an obligation. I invite those who govern this country to display a stance that can fulfill the requirements of this obligation. Otherwise, we are being isolated in our region. Look at the exercises and meetings held in the Aegean. Turkey is not at the tables where we should be. Look at the steps taken in Cyprus. Turkey is not at the tables where it should be, in the authorities where it should be making decisions. As in northern Iraq, the Turkmen presence is ignored in northeastern Syria and in its entirety. As a country with a coast to the Mediterranean, Turkey is being tried to be distanced from the projects and goals we have achieved and have explained so far with blue homeland strategies. Our rights in the Eastern Mediterranean have been usurped. We are witnessing that Turkey, which should be a king in the geography it lives in, has been reduced to a pawn because of the government's wrong practices," he expressed.

"IF A NEW STRUGGLE FOR INDEPENDENCE IS NECESSARY, WE WILL NOT HOLD BACK"

When asked what kind of resistance he would show within the scope of his "I challenge you" outburst, Dervişoğlu said:

"I said whether the nation or the government. I don't need to determine a strategy. If you impose on the nation something that the nation cannot accept, you pay the price for it. No legal decision is eternal. Every decision taken can be changed. It is seen and understood, and even confessed by those who govern this country, that the terrorist head in Imralı still maintains his leadership status. This means he continues to manage his organization as well. After the aggravated life sentence he received, all the crimes he has committed will bind him from now on.

Therefore, let no one come out and get caught up in the dream that we will create a right to hope, we will provide physical freedom. These things are not that easy. This nation is not as empty a nation as they think. History has already recorded this. I say it openly, we emerged from a world war. The whole world accepted the results of that world war. But the great Turkish nation did not accept it and waged a struggle for independence. I want it to be known that if a new struggle for independence is necessary, we will not hold back from doing it."

"THIS IS CALLED THE DICTATORSHIP OF THE MAJORITY"

Dervişoğlu concluded his words as follows:

"You have a majority in parliament, but democracy is not an ordinary majority system. They are thinking by saying, 'We have all the powers in our hands. We have the legislative power, the executive power that cannot be audited due to the system. We are structuring the judiciary as we wish. We have already captured the media. The legislative, executive, judiciary, and the fourth element are dependent on us.' I say it clearly and net. Representative democracy is shaped by the people electing representatives in order to be able to govern themselves. But democracy limits those who govern the country, the governments. It is obliged to act with a limited understanding of management.

Therefore, the legislative, executive, and judicial powers must be separated from each other. The legislature makes laws. Depending on those laws and the constitution, the executive ensures the implementation of those laws. The judiciary audits whether the work done and the actions taken are in accordance with the laws. But this mechanism does not work in Turkey. Those who are in charge today say, 'I will do whatever I want.' When you do this, the name of Turkey's regime is not democracy. This is called the dictatorship of the majority. It is not in accordance with democracy for those who become the government with a 1.5 percent difference they received from the people and those who obtain a majority in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey to act like a majority dictatorship. For that reason, if the nation has to take a position in the name of defending rights, law, justice, Turkey's national interests, and protecting Turkey's unitary state structure and homeland integrity, the name of this will be a War of Independence if necessary. Let the nation be a witness that we will be everywhere in this great struggle."

"THESE ARE ENEMIES OF THE TURKISH NATION"

"I am not encouraging anyone to be negative, but if they drag Turkey toward an abyss, let them be sure that this country is not ownerless. The pride, honor, and dignity of the nation cannot be played with like this. We are talking about the murderer of 50 thousand people. Eulogies cannot be written to him. It cannot be said, 'We succeeded in making him called Mr. From now on, we will do everything.' This nation is the owner of the power that can show resistance to this uprising.

They may call what I said inciting the public to hatred and hostility. Where is it inciting to hatred and hostility to say that the enemy of this country is an enemy? These are enemies of the Turkish nation. These are enemies of the Republic of Turkey state. They want the division of the Turkish homeland, they are enemies of the homeland. Will this nation not call its own enemy an enemy? Turkey is not ownerless. It is not forced and condemned to this same scene. Everyone is obliged to know their place."

Müsavat Dervişoğlu answered a question regarding the joint candidate discussions in the presidential elections as follows:

"I have been saying from the very beginning that I am against the personalization of politics. I am not someone who is worried about 'Who will be the presidential candidate?' I am a person who lives the worry and concern of 'What will happen to the nation?' but when the work goes there, it discusses issues that should not be discussed, and thus it is also dropped into the swamp of artificial agenda created by the government. Isn't the most important issue this system? Let the opposition develop a common language regarding this system, display an integrated opposition understanding, and meet in a common unity of action and discourse against Turkey's fundamental problems."

Explaining that they constantly suggest making an interim raise to the minimum wage, Dervişoğlu said, "We said at that time, in processes where inflation shows such rapid ups and downs, 'At least let minimum wage adjustments be made in three-month periods,' but the government has been insisting on one year in recent times. Therefore, because they have not succeeded in protecting the money going into the citizen's pocket and wallet, these discussions are being carried to the public agenda. There is an absolute need for an adjustment in salaries; this is inevitable," he said.

EARLY ELECTION DEBATE

Dervişoğlu added that in the event of an early election decision, tasks such as presidential candidacy can be attributed to the chairmen of political parties, but he does not want to say this now and carry himself to the center of a debate.
