Destici calls for Deniz Undav to be stripped of citizenship: Family responds immediately

Great Unity Party (BBP) Chairman Mustafa Destici has demanded that Deniz Undav, who plays for the German national team at EURO 2024 and said "I am Kurdish" in an interview, be stripped of his citizenship.

Undav's family responded to Destici's demand with the statement, "He is not a Turkish citizen anyway."

Deniz Undav's family emphasized that Undav is not a Turkish citizen and was born in Germany. Azad Barış, speaking on behalf of Undav's family, issued a harsh statement directed at Destici, noting that Undav is proud of his 'Yezidi, Kurdish, and Turkish' identity, but that they oppose the impositions of a racist mentality.

Born as the child of a family that immigrated to Germany, the Stuttgart-born striker Deniz Undav is currently playing for the German national team at EURO 2024.
