Mehmet Altuğ, the brother-in-law of S.A.D., the mother who killed 2 of her children and left 1 child seriously injured in Ankara's Keçiören district, and Murat Akkurt, a shopkeeper who witnessed the event, provided information about what happened. Altuğ stated that S.A.D. had been using psychiatric medication for some time but later stopped taking it. Akkurt reported that the person who killed her children threw herself in front of a car in an attempt to commit suicide.

The incident occurred in the Ayvalı neighborhood of Keçiören. According to the information obtained, the mother, S.A.D., had a mental breakdown for reasons yet to be determined and cut the wrists of her children A.S.D. (10), M.A.D. (7), and A.B.D. (12). Upon reports from local citizens, numerous police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Medical teams determined that A.S.D. and M.A.D. had lost their lives. The seriously injured A.B.D. was transferred to Etlik City Hospital. Police teams have launched an investigation into the incident.

Altuğ noted that the 12-year-old A.B.D., who was taken to the hospital, is being treated in the intensive care unit and is in critical condition. Brother-in-law Mehmet Altuğ, who stated that mother S.A.D. was on medication and had not been taking it for a while—a fact they only learned about later—made the following remarks:

''They were very happy; she was someone devoted to her children. She most likely had a mental breakdown. We spoke with her; she is currently not conscious. She doesn't even recognize herself. If she recognized herself and knew what happened to her children, she wouldn't be alive herself. They had 3 children; one of them has a physical disability. She had never been hospitalized before. She doesn't have a medical report, but she had previously gone to a hospital in Istanbul for psychiatric treatment. Her husband works at a furniture store. He was at work at the time of the incident. The older daughter, who is in the hospital, first called her father. Her father then called my son. My son works nearby and was the first to arrive. He took the knife from her hand and threw it away. She was someone very devoted to her children. They had some financial difficulties, but they were happy.''
"The mother was saying, 'I am being threatened, they are going to take my children'"

Shopkeeper Murat Akkurt stated that after a neighbor called out, they ran to the apartment together, and he described the event with these words:

''We climbed up the stairs. When we saw the woman in front of us, she had opened the door; she had a knife in her hand, but she was covered in blood. It looked as if she had slaughtered a sacrifice. We were scared and ran downstairs. When the woman also came down, we were wary. Her nephew held the woman. The woman said, 'I killed the children, I cut them.' The woman was saying, 'I am being threatened, they are going to take my children.' When she tried to throw herself in front of a car, I grabbed her and she fell to the ground. She suddenly seemed to faint. Her nephew took the knife from her hand with a stick.''
