Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş's targeting of the third article of the Constitution of the Republic of Türkiye has sparked reactions.
The harshest reaction to Kurtulmuş came from People's Alliance partner and MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli.
During his party's press conference at the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM), Bahçeli stated, "Separating the state from the nation is pure separatism and is very dangerous."
Following Bahçeli's harsh statements, a surprise meeting took place yesterday (October 17).

The meeting at the Palace was held behind closed doors. Journalist Fikret Bila shared the inside information he obtained regarding the surprise meeting.
Stating that the content of the meeting concerned Kurtulmuş's remarks, Bila noted that Bahçeli's outburst accelerated the meeting.
In his statement, Bila said the following:
"Yes, it is being discussed in the lobbies that the meeting was held due to the statement regarding the 3rd article. The meeting was a one-on-one session and was closed to the press. According to information provided by our colleagues following President Erdoğan, it is stated that the meeting addressed the speech Numan Kurtulmuş made regarding the 3rd article of the Constitution and the controversy it created.
It is said that the very harsh statement by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli in Ankara accelerated this meeting. We have inside information that Kurtulmuş conveyed to President Erdoğan what he meant by that expression."
