The incident occurred in the evening hours on Kanarya Street in the Mustafa Kemalpaşa neighborhood of Avcılar, Istanbul. According to allegations, a man named Haydar Duran, who worked as a taxi driver, came to the home of his ex-wife and engaged in an argument. During the dispute, Duran shot his ex-wife Damla Bakiler, her sister Selin Bakiler, and his former mother-in-law Nazan Deniz Bakiler with a firearm. Duran then called a relative and asked them to come and take his 1-year-old daughter. The relative then called the police to report the situation.

Refusing to allow the police to approach the house, Duran handed his young daughter over to the relative he had called, and subsequently, refusing to be persuaded, committed suicide with the same weapon.

Upon entering the house, police found Haydar Duran, his ex-wife Damla Bakiler, his former mother-in-law Nazan Deniz Bakiler, and his former sister-in-law Selin Bakiler lying on the floor covered in blood. While medical teams determined during their initial assessment that Duran, Damla Bakiler, and Nazan Deniz Bakiler had lost their lives, Selin Bakiler, who was seriously injured, was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Following the incident, police teams took security measures on the street, while crime scene investigation teams conducted work inside the apartment. It was learned that the couple had a daughter. After the examinations were completed, the bodies of the 3 individuals in the house were placed into a funeral vehicle and taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute Morgue.

The treatment of the seriously injured Selin Bakiler continues at the hospital.
