Detention warrant issued for Süleyman Aslan, whom Seçil Erzan labeled a 'loan shark', in IMM investigation

It has emerged that Süleyman Aslan is among the 49 individuals for whom a detention warrant was issued during the 4th wave of operations targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) on the morning of Friday, May 23. Aslan is both a defendant and a complainant in the fraud case involving the promise of a high-yield secret fund, publicly known as the "Seçil Erzan case".

In the trial held at the Istanbul 41st High Criminal Court, it was reported that in her prosecutor's statement, Seçil Erzan described Süleyman Aslan as a "major loan shark" and stated that she had repeatedly borrowed money from him at interest. Erzan stated that she received 2 million dollars from Aslan and that this relationship went beyond a standard banker-client relationship. Furthermore, it was noted that Erzan, along with Moci (Moctaba Haghani), received 10 million liras from Aslan and repaid it as 14 million liras, and that these transactions took place outside the legal banking system.

In this case, a prison sentence of 2 to 6 years and a judicial fine of 500 to 5,000 days are being sought for Süleyman Aslan. However, Aslan could not be apprehended on the morning of the operation and remains a fugitive.

In the latest operation targeting the IMM, detention warrants were issued for 49 people, including IMM Deputy Secretary General Arif Gürkan Alpay, IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu's Chief of Staff Kadriye Kasapoğlu, KİPTAŞ General Manager Ali Kurt, and İSTAÇ General Manager Ziya Gökmen Togay. It was stated that 25 of these individuals are IMM employees.

Other names for whom detention warrants were issued as part of the operation include Mustafa Başar Arıoğlu, Erdem Arıoğlu, and Sami Özge Arıoğlu, who built the Eurasia Tunnel and the Çanakkale Bridge, as well as Sarp Yalçınkaya, the owner of TECO Fuel, which has 300 dealerships.

Authorities stated that more information regarding the details of the operation and the grounds for the detention warrants would be shared in the coming days.
