Detention warrant issued for Barbaros Şansal

Famous fashion designer Barbaros Şansal announced that he was taken into custody at Istanbul Airport following a decision by the İzmir 11th Criminal Court of First Instance. In a statement on his social media account, Şansal used the expressions, "Fresh off the plane, as soon as I landed, İzmir 11th Criminal Court GBT arrest! Istanbul Airport".

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

Following a social media post he made on New Year's Eve in 2017, Şansal was deported from the TRNC on allegations of 'inciting the public to hatred and hostility,' and was taken into custody and arrested after being attacked by individuals who were allowed onto the runway at the airport in Istanbul. Şansal was later released.

The famous fashion designer was also taken into custody in 2023.
