DEVA Party announces decision on AKP Congress: 'The manner and timing of the invitation'

DEVA Party Deputy Chairman and Adana MP Sadullah Kısacık announced that the DEVA Party will not attend the AKP's 8th Ordinary Grand Congress to be held tomorrow.

Kısacık stated that they rejected the AKP's congress invitation because they did not find the manner and timing of the invitation appropriate.

DEVA Party's Sadullah Kısacık stated in a post on his social media account that it was emphasized in press conferences held by the AKP until February 21 that their party was not invited, but that they were invited via the private office at a late hour on February 21. Kısacık announced that they turned down the invitation with the words, "Along with our thanks for the invitation, we have informed them today that our Party cannot attend this invitation, which was made in a manner that does not comply with the procedures, timelines, and principles of representation required by political conventions."

Kısacık's social media post is as follows:

"The DEVA Party has adopted dialogue as a principle in politics and has made it a basis to always keep communication channels open with all political parties. Our party has held holiday greeting programs with numerous parties to date and has participated in congresses.

On Monday, February 17, a press conference was held by the relevant deputy chairman regarding the AK Party's 8th Ordinary Grand Congress to be held on Sunday, February 23, and the names of the parties invited to the congress were announced to the public. Throughout the week, it was emphasized in media contacts that the DEVA Party was not invited.

Despite this, late on Friday, February 21, an invitation regarding participation in the Congress to be held on Sunday morning was conveyed to our Party through a deputy chairman's private office.

Along with our thanks for the invitation, we have informed them today that our Party cannot attend this invitation, which was made in a manner that does not comply with the procedures, timelines, and principles of representation required by political conventions.

The DEVA Party, which has demonstrated its commitment to the principle of dialogue for 5 years since its establishment, remains open to mutual participation in events such as holiday greetings and congresses that will be held with the AK Party in the future, within a framework that complies with political conventions, just as it has been with many other political parties until now.
