Hür Ağbaba, the brother of Yeni Party MP Veli Ağbaba, has been arrested as part of an investigation into bid-rigging at Egeşehir, a subsidiary of the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality.

Teams from the İzmir Provincial Gendarmerie Command, under the coordination of the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, conducted an investigation last May into Egeşehir Yapı Planlama Müşavirlik ve Teknoloji A.Ş., a subsidiary of the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, on charges of 'establishing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime,' 'being a member of an organization,' and 'bid-rigging.'
As part of the investigation, the commercial relationship between Egeşehir Yapı General Manager Süleyman Ekinci and a construction firm, with which he allegedly participated in various public tenders in the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia regions through a joint venture model, was placed under scrutiny.
According to the allegations, after the firm in question won the tenders for the Örnekköy 3rd and 4th Stage Cooperative projects, the building inspection processes were carried out by Egeşehir Yapı, thereby allowing the same structure to be influential in both the tender process and the inspection phase.
It was learned that this situation is being evaluated within the scope of 'conflict of interest' and 'irregular inspection mechanism' as part of the investigation.
4 SUSPECTS ARRESTED
In the 'bid-rigging' operation carried out by the gendarmerie against Egeşehir Yapı Planlama Müşavirlik ve Teknoloji A.Ş., a subsidiary of the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, as part of the investigation, Egeşehir Yapı Planlama Müşavirlik ve Teknoloji A.Ş. General Manager Süleyman Ekinci, construction firm official Salih Eren, another construction firm official Muzafer Özpolat, and the then-General Manager of İZBETON Hüseyin Sezer were arrested and sent to prison after being detained and referred to the courthouse.
VELİ AĞBABA'S BROTHER ARRESTED
A new development has occurred within the scope of the investigation conducted by the İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
It was determined that one of the suspects arrested in the investigation, Egeşehir General Manager Süleyman Ekinci, had connections with Hür Ağbaba, the brother of Yeni Party MP Veli Ağbaba.
Following these findings, Hür Ağbaba and one other suspect were detained in Diyarbakır and Malatya.
After the prosecution procedures at the courthouse, Hür Ağbaba was referred to the Duty Criminal Judgeship of Peace and was arrested and sent to prison.
