A ceremony was held in Istanbul for the singer, composer, songwriter, and film actor Ferdi Tayfur, who passed away on January 2 at the hospital in Antalya where he was receiving treatment. The ceremony, which took place at the Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM), brought together the artist's relatives, loved ones, and many figures from the world of art.
DEVLET BAHÇELİ ALSO ATTENDED THE FUNERAL
Following the ceremony at the AKM, Ferdi Tayfur's body was brought to the Levent Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa Mosque. MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli was among those who attended the funeral. Bahçeli shared his deep affection and sorrow for the artist on his social media account with the following words:
“In these days when we are observing the holy three months and the Regaib Kandili, I am experiencing the deep sorrow of losing Ferdi Tayfur, the exceptional artist of Turkish folk and arabesque music. He was my brother, a master of voice and lyrics who was the interpreter of my heart's land. He was a patriot who earned his honest living with the sweat he shed in the cotton fields of Adana, and who climbed to the peaks of Turkish music to establish a throne in the hearts of millions.
Ferdi Tayfur's passing has taken a piece of me away. May he find peace where he rests. May his place be heaven, and may his soul be joyful. Condolences to our nation.”
