Dilek İmamoğlu addresses Emine Erdoğan!

Dilek Kaya İmamoğlu, wife of imprisoned IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, shared a letter addressed to President Erdoğan's wife, Emine Erdoğan, on her official X account. İmamoğlu called on Emine Erdoğan regarding the hardships experienced by mothers in prison concerning their bonds with their children.

Dilek Kaya İmamoğlu used the following expressions in her message:

"Dear Mrs. Emine Erdoğan,

I am writing this letter to you as a mother and as a woman who feels the responsibility of being the voice of the public conscience in her heart.

Women imprisoned in Silivri Prison are being torn away from their children and families due to their transfer to prisons outside of Istanbul. This practice deeply affects not only the lives of these women but also the lives of the family members left behind. In 2025, which has been declared the 'Year of the Family,' the disruption of such a sacred responsibility as motherhood in such a severe manner deeply wounds the public conscience.

Innocent children are being separated from their mothers, and this separation leaves deep scars that are difficult to repair in their psychological development. Protecting family integrity is one of the most fundamental requirements of being a state governed by the rule of law. Such practices require serious questioning in terms of universal human rights and children's rights.

I am aware of the sensitivity you show regarding the protection of women and children. My request to you is that this issue be addressed from a humanitarian perspective and that a solution be developed in consultation with the relevant institutions to ensure that female prisoners are not torn away from their families. I kindly request that this appeal be considered as a conscientious call that transcends politics.
