MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli is the architect of the second 'solution process'—which the government calls 'Terror-Free Turkey'—conducted with the DEM Party and Abdullah Öcalan, the leader of the terrorist organization PKK. New information has emerged from political circles regarding this process.

According to a report by Nefes columnist Nuray Babacan, it is claimed that Öcalan wants a new party to be established, with the aim of eliminating the alleged 'representative of the PKK' perception surrounding the DEM Party.

On the other hand, AKP figures who stated that the DEM Party bringing new demands to the agenda is creating difficulties made the following assessments:

“We are currently in a period where steps need to be taken, and things need to proceed more quietly and calmly. Statements that constantly raise the stakes, implying ‘let this happen, let that happen,’ are perceived incorrectly by the party base, which is already hesitant. We experience the difficulty of this every time we go to our electoral districts. DEM officials frequently display the same attitude.

We are already having difficulty convincing our base; time is needed for them to digest this. Therefore, more caution should be exercised regarding statements and demands. Statements made with a tone of ‘redesigning the state’ will not benefit the process. Ultimately, it is the government that will take the step. We also have a voter base to whom we are accountable…”

"ÖCALAN WANTS A NEW PARTY TO BE ESTABLISHED AFTER THE PROCESS"

Babacan conveyed the information she obtained regarding Öcalan's request for a new party as follows:

"Another topic discussed in government circles in connection with the process is that the Kurds will establish a new party. According to them, Öcalan wants a new party to be established after the process that will encompass Turkey. This party will have a new perspective to be able to receive votes from both Kurdish and Turkish voters. The 'PKK representative perception' created by DEM will also disappear."
