A new development has occurred in the investigation into the disappearance of Gülistan Doku, who has been missing since January 5, 2020.

Within the scope of the investigation, Tuncay Sonel, the Tunceli Governor at the time who had previously been suspended and detained, was arrested by the criminal judgeship of peace to which he was referred following his statement at the prosecutor's office. He faces charges of "destroying, concealing, or altering evidence of a crime," "damaging, destroying, making inaccessible, or inserting data into an information system," "unlawfully obtaining or disseminating personal data," and "damaging, destroying, or concealing an official document."

Sonel, who was arrested on four separate charges, was sent to the Aziziye No. 2 Y-Type Closed Penal Institution. It was reported that Sonel, who was seen without handcuffs while being taken to the courthouse under police escort, had stated during the three days he was held at the police station, "I am a governor of the state. I will not answer to the police."

According to a report by Artı Gerçek, Özdemir Aktaş, who had been serving as a department head within İŞKUR in Ankara for some time and was the Tunceli İŞKUR Director at the time the incident occurred, was also dismissed from his post as of this morning.

Gülistan Doku's sister, Aygül Doku, had stated in a video she shared on her social media account that Aktaş had close ties to Zeinal Abakarov, the former boyfriend who was arrested as part of the investigation, and his family.
