Dispute over insults to Atatürk ends in murder in Tokat
Mustafa Günel, a resident of Zile, Tokat, got into a dispute with Vesile Yiğit, who lives in Mersin, over allegations that she insulted Atatürk on social media. As the argument escalated, Vesile Yiğit traveled to Zile with her husband, İsak, and relatives, and assaulted Günel in front of his home. Günel then retrieved a shotgun from his house and opened fire, resulting in the death of İsak Yiğit.

The exchange between the two turned into a heated argument involving profanity. Following the social media dispute, Mustafa Günel told Vesile Yiğit that he lived in the Zile district of Tokat and sent her his home location.
Upon this, Vesile Yiğit (50), who lives in Mersin, traveled by car to the address where Mustafa Günel lived, accompanied by her husband, İsak Yiğit (50), and their three sons.

Seeing that the people he had argued with on social media had arrived in front of his house, Günel went downstairs. The renewed argument between the parties turned into a physical fight.
Mustafa Günel, who was injured by the blows he received, opened fire with a shotgun he retrieved from his home. İsak Yiğit fell to the ground after being struck by the pellets, while his relatives fled the scene in their car.
Upon notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the address. Medical personnel determined that İsak Yiğit had lost his life.
The murder suspect, Mustafa Günel, was taken into custody by police teams. The police have launched an investigation into the incident.
