District governor dines with guests, but things get heated when the bill arrives

Hacı Kerim Meral, the district governor serving in Yusufeli, one of the districts of Artvin famous for its doner kebab and its recently constructed dam, reportedly did not like the doner kebab at the restaurant where he was dining.

According to the information obtained, the incident occurred on Monday, November 6, at 12:17 PM. Yusufeli District Governor Hacı Kerim Meral arrived at a restaurant operating in the district with 2 guests.

Meral, who sat in the family section, told the waiter who came to take the order that he wanted cağ doner. The waiter explained that due to the high volume of work at their establishment, they generally do not slice cağ doner after 11:00 AM, but could serve it as a portion.

Following this, District Governor Meral ordered a portion of doner.

After eating their doner with his guests, having dessert, and drinking their tea, District Governor Meral headed toward the register and, in front of other customers, loudly told the business owner, Ferhat Kodat, that he did not like the doner, the rice, or the rice pudding, and then left the establishment.

Those moments were captured on the business's security camera.

Making a statement regarding the matter, business owner Ferhat Kodat said, "We recently moved to our new district. We are already going through a difficult process. Our district governor's behavior has saddened us. He didn't have to pay the bill, that's fine, but humiliating us in front of our customers has upset me and my fellow employees.

This is his first time coming to our establishment. We provided the same service to our district governor as we do to all our other customers.

He came to the register and shouted, 'I didn't like the food, I didn't like the dessert, so I'm not paying the bill,' and then walked out. We just said 'may he be well' and offered him cologne," he stated.
