District Governor's Office issues 'austerity' directive to schools

In Karabük, the Safranbolu District Governor's Office and the District Directorate of National Education have sent a letter to schools instructing them not to use "electric tea machines" as part of the Austerity Measures Circular announced by Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek.
According to a report by BirGün, the Karabük Safranbolu District Governor's Office and the District Directorate of National Education requested in a letter sent to schools that "electric tea machines" not be used, in accordance with the Presidential Austerity Measures Circular. Teachers have reacted to the directive.
The letter requested that devices such as water heaters and tea machines not be used in public buildings, that the matter be closely monitored by institution heads, that maximum austerity measures be observed, and that necessary inspections be carried out.
The All Teachers' Union (TÖB-SEN) issued a statement regarding the matter, saying, "They have set their sights on the teacher's tea machine."

In a statement published under the signature of TÖB-SEN Bursa Provincial Representative Serkan Bebek, it was emphasized that those who "cannot talk about austerity to bosses, the Parliament, or the Palace budget are imposing austerity on teachers." The statement also drew attention to the failure to appoint teachers despite the shortage, adding, "We do not want austerity in the public sector; we want equal distribution and a budget for the people."
The statement included the following remarks: "The letter sent to schools in the Safranbolu district of Karabük requests that 'heaters and tea machines' not be used. It is like a joke. A letter is being sent to schools in the Safranbolu district to remove tea heaters to save electricity. Can those who set their sights on the bread that has become a morsel for public servants and millions living on minimum wage ever stop? They have set their sights on the teacher's tea machine."
The TÖB-SEN statement underscored that "like budget packages, austerity packages also protect capital and bosses," adding, "As the TÖB-SEN Bursa Provincial Representative Office, we are ready to cover the electricity costs of tea machines in schools in the Safranbolu district so that our teachers can sip their tea with pleasure during breaks."
