While there were no casualties or injuries in the incident, it was determined that the explosive had been left on the side of the road by a motorcyclist and detonated approximately 12 minutes later as a civilian police vehicle was passing by. IED DETONATED AS CIVILIAN POLICE VEHICLE PASSED

According to the Governor's Office statement, a civilian police vehicle passing through the area during the explosion drove over a bag left on the side of the road, which was assessed to contain an improvised explosive device (IED). No casualties or injuries occurred in the explosion, and there was no damage to the vehicle.

LEFT BY A MOTORCYCLIST SUSPECT

Technical and camera investigations revealed that the explosive was left on the side of the road by a motorcyclist around 18:21. It was determined that different vehicles used the same route during the intervening time, and the explosion occurred approximately 12 minutes later.

The statement noted that, based on current findings, there is no evidence at this stage to suggest that the police vehicle was directly targeted by the explosive, which lacked a remote control mechanism.
