DMM issues statement on claims of a 'wave of migration from Iran to Turkey'

The Center for Combating Disinformation (DMM), operating under the Presidency's Directorate of Communications, has released a statement regarding claims that "a wave of migration from Iran to Turkey has begun."

In a written statement issued by the institution, it was noted that following Israel's attack on Iran, certain social media accounts made posts claiming that "a wave of migration from Iran to Turkey has begun," and that this content is intended to mislead the public.

The DMM stated that the Ministry of Interior has officially confirmed that there is no unusual situation, increase in migration, or significant density along the border line between Turkey and Iran. The statement included the following information:

"Furthermore, our borders are monitored 24/7 by our security units using physical security systems equipped with the most advanced technology. These systems are supported by security walls, thermal camera systems, lighting, electro-optical towers, elevator towers, and armored surveillance vehicles. Our relevant security forces do not tolerate any illegal crossings at our borders, and any such attempts are immediately prevented. Posts to the contrary are considered to be aimed at speculating on the agenda to incite xenophobia and carry out 'destabilization activities.' It is kindly requested that our citizens do not give credence to such disinformation-laden posts and only take into account statements made by authorized bodies."

It was also stated that necessary legal proceedings will be initiated against such misleading activities directed at public order. The statement concluded by emphasizing that efforts to combat disinformation will continue through informing the public accurately, developing coordination with civil society, and utilizing legal channels.
