Footage and the incident report from the moment Tengioğlu arrived at the Saraçhane building, where the İBB presidential office is located, on December 16, 2024, and stated that "an assassination would be carried out against Ekrem İmamoğlu" have emerged. A detail in the report regarding the attacker's criminal record check (GBT) drew attention.
According to the incident report, following the report made by Selçuk Tengioğlu, who killed his own children, a criminal record check conducted by law enforcement officers concluded that 'no negative findings were encountered in the individual's criminal record check.'
It was noted that in the İBB report, it was stated that Tengioğlu's statement was taken by the police, and that the criminal record check conducted by the police reported that no negative findings were encountered.
The fact that the phrase 'no negative findings were encountered' appeared in the criminal record check, despite Tengioğlu having received a life sentence for filicide, has raised questions.
Journalist Gülşah İnce, who shared the incident report kept by the municipality on her social media account, pointed to the issue of an individual who killed his two children and served time in prison having a clean criminal record check.
