Downpour hits Istanbul: Beşiktaş underwater, land and sea merge in Harem

Following warnings from AKOM, the heavy rainfall affecting Istanbul has caused flooding and transportation disruptions across the city. Roads in Beşiktaş turned into lakes, the land and sea merged in Harem, and citizens on Istiklal Avenue were caught unprepared by the rain. The precipitation is expected to continue with varying intensity until the evening hours.

The downpour in Istanbul has negatively affected daily life. Following warnings from AKOM, as temperatures dropped to 27 degrees, the rainfall, which was effective in many districts of the city, caused flooding and disruptions in transportation.

RAINFALL WILL CONTINUE UNTIL THE EVENING

According to meteorological data, the downpour is expected to continue intermittently across Istanbul until the evening hours, remaining strong in some regions.

STREETS FILLED WITH WATER

In the Çağlayan neighborhood of Kağıthane, some streets were left underwater due to the rainfall. While parked and moving vehicles were submerged, some citizens whose homes were flooded remained trapped for a while. Some individuals were seen trying to walk through water that reached waist-deep levels.

ROADS IN BEŞİKTAŞ TURNED INTO LAKES

The downpour also negatively affected daily life in Beşiktaş.


While puddles formed on some streets and avenues, drivers and pedestrians had difficulty moving as the roads turned into lakes. Transportation slowed down from time to time in the areas where the rainfall was effective.


SEA OVERFLOWED IN HAREM

On the Harem coast, the effect of the rainfall created scenes where the land and the sea merged.


İSTİKLAL AVENUE WAS ALSO AFFECTED BY THE RAIN

The downpour also made its impact felt on Istiklal Avenue in Beyoğlu. 



UNDERPASS FLOODED IN ZİNCİRLİKUYU

In Istanbul, heavy rainfall was effective in some places starting from the morning hours. Due to the rain, the underpass in front of the cemetery on the road leading to Nispetiye Avenue in Zincirlikuyu was flooded. Vehicles were stranded on the road. Teams are currently carrying out water drainage operations.
