Downpour paralyzes life in Istanbul! Streets turn into lakes, marketplace flooded

Following the warnings issued by AKOM during the day, the expected downpour made its impact felt in Istanbul. As temperatures across the city dropped to around 27 degrees, puddles formed on streets and avenues due to the intermittent rainfall affecting many districts.
According to meteorological data, the downpour is expected to continue, at times heavily, in different parts of Istanbul until the evening hours.
AKOM HAD WARNED
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Department of Disaster Coordination (AKOM) had announced in an assessment made during the day that a downpour was expected in the city.
Following the warning, the rainfall made its impact felt in many districts, and the air temperature dropped to around 27 degrees.
SEWAGE PIPE BURST IN KAĞITHANE
It was reported that a sewage pipe burst in the Yahya Kemal neighborhood of Kağıthane, one of the districts where the downpour was effective.
Following the burst, the street was quickly covered with water, and disruptions in transportation occurred in the area.
TRANSPORTATION DISRUPTED ON STREETS AND AVENUES
Due to the heavy rainfall, puddles formed on some streets and avenues, particularly in Sultangazi and Esenler.
Drivers had difficulty moving their vehicles due to the accumulated water, and traffic slowed down in some locations.
MARKET MERCHANTS FACED DIFFICULT MOMENTS
The neighborhood market set up in Kağıthane was also affected by the downpour.
As the street where the market is located turned into a lake due to the rainfall, merchants made intense efforts to protect their stalls and products. Citizens who wanted to shop in the area also had difficulty moving around due to the puddles.
RAINFALL EXPECTED TO CONTINUE UNTIL EVENING HOURS
According to meteorological data, the downpour is expected to continue across Istanbul until the evening hours and is expected to be locally heavy in some regions.
