DP's Ertan Küçükay shares: Council member candidate attacked with acid

Democrat Party Secretary General Ertan Küçükay shared on his social media account that Oğuzhan Lök, a candidate for the Hatay Dörtyol Municipal Council, was subjected to an acid attack. Lök also alleged that his election observers in the Midyat district of Mardin were assaulted by the AKP Mayor Veysi Şahin.

Democrat Party Secretary General Ertan Küçükay reported on his social media account that an acid attack was carried out against Oğuzhan Lök, a candidate for the Hatay Dörtyol Municipal Council, just hours before the elections last night.

Küçükay stated, "He was attacked by members of the People's Alliance last night by having acid thrown in his face and has been taken under treatment at the hospital."

Küçükay's post is as follows:

"Our Hatay/Dörtyol Municipal Council candidate Oğuzhan Lök was attacked by members of the People's Alliance last night by having acid thrown in his face and has been taken under treatment at the hospital.

His treatment is continuing at the Mersin City Hospital burn unit.

From the moment of the incident, our Chairman Mr. Gültekin Uysal, our Hatay provincial chairman, our Dörtyol district chairman, and our mayoral candidate have been closely following the matter, and as a result of legal initiatives, the attacker has been detained.

We strongly condemn those who committed and incited this vile attack.

Our struggle for democracy, for which we have given our lives for 78 years, will continue even more strongly and decisively.

Democrats across all of Turkey are standing tall.

OBSERVER ASSAULTED IN MİDYAT

Küçükay alleged on his social media account that their election observer in the Midyat district of Mardin was assaulted by AKP Mayor Veysi Şahin.

Küçükay said in his post, "Our goal is a fully democratic, great Turkey where everyone is secure in their rights."

Küçükay's post regarding the matter is as follows:

"Our election observer İdris Aydın in Mardin/Midyat was assaulted by the current AKP Midyat Mayor Veysi Şahin and his men and has been taken to the hospital.

We condemn these urban thugs who do not respect democracy or the will of the nation.

Let them know that we are Democrats; we are the followers, like-minded peers, companions, and party members of the martyrs of democracy who did not show gratitude to the executioner at the gallows but kicked the stool away themselves.

We will continue on our path without tiring, without giving up, without wearying, and without fear.

Our goal is a fully democratic, great Turkey where everyone is secure in their rights.

Get well soon to our friend injured in this heinous attack and to the democrats of Midyat.
