Mersin Customs Enforcement teams seized 24 luxury vehicles with a market value of 356.6 million Turkish liras during a search of suspicious containers. Meanwhile, a total of 608 kilograms of narcotics were seized in Hakkari and Edirne.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Trade, teams from the Mersin Customs Enforcement, Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate seized 24 luxury vehicles with a market value of approximately 356.6 million Turkish liras during an operation conducted as part of the fight against smuggling.
The operation began when 12 suspicious containers were sent to the Vehicle and Container Scanning System. Following the scan, a decision was made to conduct a detailed search of the containers where density was detected. During the inspections, various makes and models of automobiles and off-road vehicles were discovered upon opening the container doors.
LARGE QUANTITY OF NARCOTICS SEIZED
The fight against smuggling by the Ministry of Trade's Customs Enforcement teams was not limited to Mersin. In two separate operations carried out at the Hakkari Esendere and Edirne Kapıkule Customs Gates, a total of 608 kilograms of narcotics with a market value of approximately 720 million liras were seized.
During searches of suspicious vehicles entering Turkey as part of narcotics risk analysis and targeting efforts at the Hakkari Esendere Customs Gate, 431 kilograms of heroin were seized, while 177 kilograms of cannabis were found at the Edirne Kapıkule Customs Gate.
