Drug tests, which were previously only conducted in certain fields for some time, have become a much broader sectoral practice following the security operations that have emerged in recent months. Drug testing is now regularly requested during the recruitment process, particularly in sectors such as healthcare, security, logistics, energy, and heavy industry.
INCREASED 7-FOLD
According to data from laboratories in Istanbul, employers are requesting over 20 thousand tests every day. This indicates an increase of 6 to 7 times in test applications compared to previous periods.
PRICE EXCEEDS 2,200 TL
Drug tests are now being requested not only from employees but also from candidates applying as interns. Large-scale companies are facilitating the process by making bulk testing agreements with laboratories, sometimes providing bulk pricing advantages on test fees. While the average market price for a single test is stated to be approximately 2,200 TL, this amount can decrease in bulk agreements.
From a legal perspective, it is possible for employers to request tests from candidates in accordance with the law. However, the practice must be related to the requirements of the job, the candidate must provide explicit consent, and the rules regarding the protection of personal data must be followed. Only the relevant person can access the test result; the employer can only see the result with the candidate's specific permission.
