With a Presidential Decree, foreign-plated vehicles brought to Turkey temporarily by citizens who have retired abroad will be able to remain in the country for 4 consecutive years. The Presidential Decree regarding the matter has been published in the Official Gazette and has entered into force.
With the regulation, the opportunity has been introduced for citizens who have retired abroad and are residents outside the Turkish Customs Territory, as well as retired foreigners who have obtained a residence permit in Turkey, to be granted an additional period of up to 730 days upon application before the expiration of the time granted for their vehicles, without the need for the person and the vehicle to exit the country.
Thus, it has become possible for foreign-plated vehicles brought to Turkey temporarily by citizens who have retired abroad to remain in the country for 4 consecutive years.
Furthermore, citizens who take advantage of this right and take their vehicles abroad after keeping them in Turkey for 4 years will be able to bring a vehicle again for a 4-year period, provided that they remain outside the country with their vehicles for at least 185 days.
Individuals arriving from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will also be able to benefit from the one-month period granted to persons residing in the European Union and the European Free Trade Association who wish to enter Turkey with their vehicles without meeting the necessary conditions.
