Earthquake-hit Hatay faces snowfall and coastal flooding
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdulla Sakallı from Iskenderun Technical University stated that some days during the winter months in Hatay will be colder than average with heavy precipitation, and noted that snowfall could be seen across the entire country on Sunday.

Iskenderun Technical University Department of Industrial Engineering Chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdulla Sakallı pointed out that there will be days with below-average temperatures and heavy precipitation during the winter months, stating that coastal flooding could frequently occur in the Samandağ and Iskenderun districts of Hatay on rainy days when southwesterly winds are effective. Sakallı also provided information regarding weather forecasts in Hatay, where the effects of the earthquake are still felt.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sakallı informed the citizens living in Hatay. Sakallı stated that a mild winter is expected in the Mediterranean region. He issued warnings against coastal flooding in the Iskenderun and Samandağ districts during rainy days when southwesterly winds are effective.
Furthermore, addressing the discussions regarding the "coldest winter of the century," Sakallı stated that there is no expectation of a severe cold wave in the region. However, he noted that with a cold wave arriving from the Thrace region, snowfall could be seen across the country on Sunday.
Emphasizing that attention should be paid to the Iskenderun and Samandağ districts during southwesterly winds and precipitation, Sakallı conveyed that precautions should be taken against coastal flooding. Additionally, pointing out the increase in disinformation on social media, the expert said that scientific information should be followed and misinformation should be avoided.
