Earthquake warning from Prof. Dr. Naci Görür! 'Now is the exact time to talk...'

Geoscientist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür stated that Turkey is under earthquake risk, saying, "Major earthquakes can occur in almost every region of our country. Therefore, we must be prepared." Expressing that earthquakes will continue for millions of more years, Görür said, "The earthquake mechanism formed approximately 14 million years ago, and this process will continue for many more years."

Görür emphasized that cities must be made earthquake-resistant, stating, "Let us make our cities earthquake-resistant so that our people do not get harmed." Furthermore, he noted that in every province, management, the public, infrastructure, building stock, ecosystem-environment, and the economy must be made earthquake-resistant. Stating that the public must make demands on this issue, Görür said, "Local governments and the government must fulfill these demands. We can complete these works within 10-15 years."

Finally, he concluded his words by saying, "It is time to take action. Just organizing events, giving speeches, or handing out plaques is not enough. We must actually do the work."
