While citizens wait for Turkey's economic data to improve, they are also struggling to make ends meet with their earnings.
Although government officials claim in their statements that there are improvements in economic data, citizens state that their quality of life is declining day by day.
Economist İnan Mutlu also stated in a post on his social media account that the suicide rate in Turkey has reached the highest level in the history of the Republic.
Evaluating the data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), Mutlu pointed out that the deepening social crisis is increasing the crude suicide rate.
İnan Mutlu used the following expressions in his post:
"In 2024, 5.22 out of every 100,000 people committed suicide.
We can say that we have reached the highest crude suicide rate in our Republican history. (TÜİK records go back to 1975. The value of 5 had never been exceeded before.)
The crude suicide rate has exceeded 5 for the first time.
It is a very unpleasant subject, but unfortunately, as the social crisis deepens, suicides increase."
